NightLight Pediatric Urgent Care Wins Community Service Award

Sarah Kaddour · May 9, 2018

LAS VEGAS, May 8, 2018 – The Urgent Care Association of America (UCAOA) presented NightLight Pediatric Urgent Care with the 2018 Urgent Care Foundation Community Service Award, which is awarded for significant volunteer contributions by an individual or organization that has had a positive impact on the health of that nominee’s community. NightLight Pediatric Urgent Care is being honored for its dedication to helping employees and patients impacted by Hurricane Harvey, as well as its ongoing support of numerous local charitable organizations.

Hurricane Harvey damaged NightLight Pediatric Urgent Care’s Humble, Texas, clinic, but it also impacted employees, who lost cars, homes and other basic necessities like clothes. In response, the organization raised nearly $14,500 to assist the team with rebuilding their lives. NightLight also participated in the UCAOA Weekend of Service initiative, providing patients with exceptional after-hours pediatric urgent care, regardless of their ability to pay for services.

“NightLight Pediatric Urgent Care’s employee and community support initiatives after Hurricane Harvey and throughout the years are truly inspiring,” said Laurel Stoimenoff, PT, CHC, and chief executive officer of UCAOA. “NightLight Pediatric Urgent Care’s commitment to making the Houston area a better, healthier place makes it honor to recognize them with the Community Service Award.”

As a company, NightLight spent over 200 hours in 2017 making care packages, fixing lunches to feed hungry children and empowering parents to save money and time for their families when it comes to choosing urgent care over emergency care for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries. In addition, NightLight’s Being Impactful Nurtures Great Outcomes program incentivizes employees and the management team to volunteer at Kids Meal to pack lunches for Houston-area children from low income households. Overall, NightLight supports more than a dozen local charitable organizations.

“We received great support from the urgent care industry after Hurricane Harvey,” said Zawadi Bryant, chief executive officer of NightLight Pediatrics. “I am proud of the NightLight team for stepping up during crises and year-round.”

Among other accolades, NightLight was highlighted in 2017 as a Forbes Small Giant, honored by U.S. Chamber of Commerce as a Minority-Owned Business Achievement Award winner and ranked on the Houston Business Journal Corporate Philanthropy list as an inspiring resource in the pediatric healthcare industry. The award was presented at last night’s 2018 Urgent Care Foundation Celebration, LÉGION D’HONNEUR, held during the UCAOA Convention & Expo. All proceeds raised during the Foundation Celebration fund life-saving research, education and programs.
