Zawadi BryantCo-Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Zawadi Bryant as Chief Executive Officer for NightLight brings a wealth of business marketing and quality improvement experience. She is a graduate of Cornell University with a master’s degree in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering and an MBA in Operations Management. Ms. Bryant has been recognized by Black Engineer Magazine as one of the Top 30 Black Engineers under 30, and a recognized leader in business and process improvement.
Anastasia L. GentlesMD, FAAP, Chief Medical Officer and Co-Founder
Dr. Anastasia Gentles, known as the “Gentle M.D.,” is an advocate for children of all ages. Prior to forming NightLight, Dr. Gentles was an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, and a Physician at Texas Children’s Pediatric Associates in Houston. Dr. Gentles also served as a Staff Physician at Austin Diagnostic Clinic and an Ambulatory Department Attending Physician at Children’s Hospital Oakland.
Connie CazaresClinical Specialist and Co-Founder
Connie Cazares is a clinical specialist and certified medical assistant with more than 13 years of experience. She graduated from the Texas School of Business and is currently enrolled in Houston Community College to become a physician assistant.
Jalil MalikOperations Manager, Sugar Land
Jalil Malik has management experience in the healthcare field for the past eight years working internationally as well. After graduating from medical school in 2006 from Abbottabad, Pakistan, and two years of training in Internal Medicine, he decided to pursue management. Jalil is currently completing a MBA in Healthcare Management.
Natasha HolmesOperations Manager, Pearland and Webster
Natasha Holmes has over 14 years as a Medical Assistant with five plus years in a management role. Her extensive background includes experience in General Pediatrics, Pedi GYN, Renal, Rheumatology, OB/GYN, Postpartum and adult Urgent Care facilities.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband of 12 years and her three boys. She loves to plan events cook and try new recipes off the Food Network. Her goal is to one day open a home for kids with mild to moderate mental illness.
Brittany BlufordChief of Staff
Behind every successful business is a dependable and efficient Chief of Staff, and Brittany Bluford balances marketing, administrative support and all projects with a smile. Brittany is a University of Houston Alumni (Go Coogs!) with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations/Advertising and Minor in English who continues learning through conferences, seminars and online courses. After volunteering at The Ronald McDonald House, Brittany knew it was time to quit her previous job, step out on faith, and step into another position that had more purpose (cue the NightLight Pediatric Urgent Care job description).
When she’s not at NightLight, she enjoys writing, traveling and watching Chicago PD while eating Chipotle. Brittany’s love for Public Relations, people, and God fits perfectly into NightLight’s culture and she’s excited to see the growth of the organization.
Donnett Bell, PNP-BC
Donnett Bell has been a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner since 1995. She received her Masters of Science degree from Adelphi University. She is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Donnett has been working for NightLight since 2010.
Bill Chu, M.D. FAAP
Dr. Bill Chu is a graduate of Houston Baptist University and the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, and received his board certification in 2004. He completed his residency training in the pediatrics at the UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles. He has work experience in a neonatal ICU as well as a private practice. Dr. Chu has been working at NightLight Pediatric Urgent Care since 2009.
Charyl Gordon, FNP-C
Charyl Gordon has been a Family Nurse Practitioner since 1997. She attended New York University for her master’s degree. She is board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Charyl has been with NightLight since 2010. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.
Adriana Guerrero, RN, FNP-C
Adriana Guerrero is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Adriana received her Bachelor’s of Science from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Science degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. When away from work, Adriana enjoys drawing, photography and taking her pug Ringo on long walks.
Rajitha Julapalli, M.D.
Dr. Rajitha Julapalli attended Baylor College of Medicine. She has worked in a variety of settings including community clinics, Texas Children’s Hospital and Ben Taub General Hospital. She particularly enjoys emergency and acute care medicine and helping families sleep better at night. Dr. Julapalli has been with NightLight since 2009. Away from work, she enjoys spending time with her family, cake decorating, scrapbooking and reading.
Michael Okogbo, MD
Dr. Michael Okogbo, a board-certified pediatrician, is a graduate of University of Lagos College of Medicine, Nigeria. He had his pediatric training at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center and Montreal Children’s Hospital, Canada. Until recently, he was a staff pediatrician—Ambulatory and Urgent Care Services at Baylor Scott and White, Temple/Killeen, Texas. He enjoys reading, listening to contemporary and classical jazz music and walking.
Kasha Otway-James, MD
Dr. Kasha Otway-James is a graduate of Georgia State University receiving her Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, and completed medical school at Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C. She completed her pediatric residency training in 2011 at Jefferson Medical College/DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE. Dr. Otway-James has been board-certified since 2012. She enjoys spending time with family, traveling and experimenting with recipes in the kitchen.
Yvonne Opara, RN, FNP-C
Yvonne Opara is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She graduated from Texas Woman’s University—Houston with a Master of Science in 2012 and has been serving as a nurse practitioner ever since. She also has been a registered nurse since 2006, graduating from The University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She is experienced in women’s services, newborn nursery and neonatal ICU. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, working out, cooking healthy meals and spending time with family and friends.
Alison Rivera, M.D.
Alison Rivera was born and raised in rural southern Illinois and went to college at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, medical school at Southern Illinois University and completed her pediatrics residency at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. Alison is a multi-sport athlete and enjoys sprint triathlons. Becoming a pediatrician is her lifelong dream come true.
Ivona Rojnicia, RN, FNP-C
Ivona Rojnicia is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, practicing in Texas since 2010. She has been a registered nurse since 2005. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Cincinnati. In 2010, she received her Master’s in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University—Houston. She is board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She enjoys spending time with her husband and toy poodle.
Kevin Stump, RN, FNP-C
Kevin Stump is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. He is a graduate of Indiana State University and recently earned a Master’s of Public Health from American Military University. He has a special interest in providing healthcare to underserved populations. Kevin is the past president for Houston Area Nurse Practitioners and a former member of the Texas Nurse Practitioners board. Stump enjoys spending time with his family and traveling.
Michelle Umengan, M.D.
Dr. Michelle Umengan is a board-certified pediatrician since 2006. She grew up in Houston and attended college at The University of Texas at Austin. She graduated from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, and completed residency training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Dr. Umengan has been with NightLight since 2012. She enjoys traveling, snowboarding, spending time with family and dessert.
Dora Aguilar completed her BSN in 2009 from The University of Texas at Austin and MSN in 2015 from Prairie View A&M College of Nursing. Her experience includes work at Airline Children’s Clinic, Aldine 9th grade school and most recently at Texas Children’s Health Plan – The Center for Children and Women at Greenspoint.
